IN MY CD PLAYER--or, THINGS I'M THINKING THAT YOU MAY OR MAY NOT CARE ABOUT

Quick update as of the end of March:

My college-age friend Ben, who turned me onto the Ataris, has courteously supplied me with another list of bands I better listen to or be considered hopelessly out of touch:

1. Bright Eyes "Lifted"

2. Q & not U--"Different Damage"

3. OK GO

4. Red House Painters

5. Brand New

I was also watching the VIVA channel in Germany, where I saw a special video segment hosted by Jack and Meg from the White Stripes. Among the stuff they played that I liked was:

1. Beth Gibbons and Rustin' Man

2. Death In Vegas with special guest Liam Gallagher

3. Sigur Ros

Sigur Ros was maybe the most interesting out of the bunch--extremely slow-moving soundscapes, almost artfully minimalist, but still managing to keep an alt/rock attitude. Beautiful and garage-y at the same time.

I haven't heard all of the above yet--I'm busy in network mode looking for new projects, but I thought they might be of interest. That's all for now!
